The BARA Literacy Project is a dedicated literacy programme focused on the history, people, and impact of the British Asian Rugby Association and British Asian involvement in rugby
Developed as part of Beyond The Try Line – Celebrating Community Heritage in Rugby, the project will be produced as a structured literacy resource and delivered in primary schools, using heritage and sport as engaging tools to support learning.
The programme supports reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical thinking, drawing on real-life stories, interviews, and heritage materials gathered through the project. Sessions will be supported by BARA mentors and ambassadors, who will work alongside schools to share lived experience, act as positive role models, and bring heritage to life in the classroom.
