about us

The British Asian Rugby Association C.I.C (BARA) is a dual code, inclusive, UK not–for-profit NGO of over 19 years standing. It has a history of campaigning for equality and inclusion for primarily South Asian Communities, but not exclusively, in rugby / sport and has delivered tangible projects which break down cultural and religious barriers and provide sporting benefits to a much under-represented minority ethnically diverse community.

In the ever-evolving landscape of rugby, the BARA is committed to actively contributing to the sport’s growth. Our primary focus is on fostering inclusivity and expanding opportunities within the rugby community, both in the United Kingdom and abroad. We aim to empower individuals from South Asian backgrounds by facilitating access to the sport at all levels and across all aspects of the game.

Rugby’s governing bodies and clubs, both professional and amateur, have made efforts to promote cultural diversity within the sport. Nevertheless, significant untapped potential still exists within the South Asian communities.

BARA was established to address this disparity and collaborate closely with rugby authorities and other relevant organisations.

Together, we seek to create a more inclusive and representative rugby environment.
