Community Mentors are central to Beyond The Try line Celebrating Community Heritage in Rugby and play a key role across exhibitions, the BARA Literacy Project, and heritage events.
Mentors will be on hand to share their lived experiences, engage audiences, support discussion, and help bring British Asian rugby heritage to life for children, young people, and the wider community.
To ensure high-quality, safe, and effective engagement, BARA Community Mentors will receive training delivered by staff at the University of Bradford. This training will support mentors to work confidently in educational and community settings, ensuring their contribution aligns with best practice in learning, inclusion, and safeguarding.
The involvement of trained mentors strengthens intergenerational learning, promotes positive role models, and helps ensure heritage is shared in a meaningful, respectful, and impactful way.
