We are extremely pleased with the dynamic range of projects currently being implemented in Dewsbury Moor and surrounding areas, which are making substantial impacts by addressing key community priorities and effecting positive change in the lives of local residents.
This has been made possible thanks to the support of One Community Foundation Ltd and the financial backing from the Dewsbury Moor Fund.
Our collaborative efforts with the Markazi Jamia Masjid Gulzar-e-Madina have been particularly rewarding, offering inclusive multi-sport rugby league themed activities for both boys and girls. These sessions, held at Crows Nest Park and within the mosque premises, are not just about sports but also incorporate workshops and talks focusing on leadership and personal development.
A pioneering initiative, ‘GEMS’ – Girls Empowerment Through Multi-Sports & Skills Programme, in collaboration with the 20:20 Foundation, has been a standout success. Aimed at young teenage girls, this leadership project holds its sessions at the Kick Off Centre and has shown promising results in empowering participants through sports and skill development.
Additionally, we have had the pleasure of hosting young children and their parents at a Huddersfield Giants game, marking many of their first experiences at a professional rugby league match. This event not only provided entertainment but also inspired a deeper interest in the sport.
As we look forward to continuing these impactful projects into the new year, we invite everyone interested in getting involved or learning more about our initiatives to reach out.
